Ihave just acquired the acer 5742z which came with a very cracked lcd screen. but it worked ok. Then next day i switched it on and all i got was a black screen. No attempt to post or boot. Power light is on and disc spins up. Insert boot disc into dvd palyer and it seems to read but no thing else. Tried vga output to monitor but no display. Ive fixed a few all-in-ones that had this issue. These had graphic cards in them so i replaced the card and it worked. If it does not have a graphic card, then check the First while the computer is off, connect an external monitor. Next turn on the computer and allow it to fully load.
