🌚 Bmw E36 316I Timing Marks

Basically I have a 318i saloon m43 engine with timing chain. Story is car was overheating, but through past experience the gauge's can be dicky so I carried on driving. Number one's cylinder valve lobes should be pointed up at ten to two or thereabouts. (no1 cyl. closed on compression). The square on the front of the camshaft casting with the two smooth sides should be pointing up in line with the centre point of the front of the engine. i.e. one smooth side on the left and the other on the right!.
