Grinding and shifting trouble. The most common shifting complaint is grinding or "crunching" when shifting into gear, which is usually felt as much as it is heard. The noise itself is caused by the ends of the synchronizer sleeve internal splines banging against the external dog teeth splines because the gear and sleeve are rotating at
It makes the car tiring to drive in traffic, grinds the gears (particularly reverse) and will eventually damage the gearbox. There are various theories as to why this happens- one being the clutch pressure plate becoming weak. This would be solved by clutch replacement but as seen above, doesn't always fix it.
G4FA Ceed problem. Good service history. The main bearings have failed, Knocks like a toilet door in a storm ! I cannot find an engine at a sensible price and wonder if a 1.6 would run on the 1.4 electronics. Any polite suggestions most welcome. I cannot see that the 1.4 electronics would work with the 1.6 as you would need the ecu and sensor
Gear Change Problems. I am looking for some advice on my 11 plate 1.6 diesel pro ceed. It has about 65000 miles on the clock. Earlier today I began having problems when attempting to chnage gear. It became particularly stiff and increasingly difficult to get into first gear and also out of reverse.
Once the mounting is disconnected, lower the engine and gearbox to ease gearbox removal. Using a transmission jack, support the gearbox, undo the final bell housing bolts and ease the gearbox away from the engine. Once the gearbox input shaft is clear from the clutch, lower the transmission jack and remove the gearbox from the vehicle.
Problem bleeding up clutch. Hi, Our Sedona 2.9 05 plate had a stiff gear box which once the engined was turned off would slip into gear lovely. We found a leak on the Clutch Slave Cylinder. Ordered new one and bled that up but it still felt spongey so we Bled it somemore to then discover a fine spray coming out of the Clutch master Cylinder.
Have difficulty sometimes getting into reverse gear and occasionally into first gear. Usually taking foot off the clutch and back down again to the floor will get it into gear but sometimes for reverse we have to turn the engine off and select reverse before turning the engine back on. when we next get into the car it is OK.
This appears to be a pretty common problem on both Kia and Hyundai. Fortunately, the fix is really simple – all you have to do is swap out the TRS. On all these vehicles (Kia Optima, Kia Sorrento, Hyundai Elantra) the TRS is located in the front driver-side quadrant of the engine bay (the bottom-right if you are looking under the hood).
If you hear squealing while braking, it usually means that your brake pads are almost completely worn out. To fix this issue, you should visit your Kia dealer’s service department to have new pads installed. Hearing a grinding noise while braking is even more serious. A grinding noise means that your pads are so worn that the metal parts in

The symptoms you describe looks like the system need resetting. To do this you need to access the unit behind the panel. Remove the bolt to the rear near
Remove the locking pins holding the gear change cables in place (pictured below) and carefully pop off the gear change cables and stow. Remove two bolts from the shift linkage bracket, enabling you to remove as a complete unit from the gearbox.
It helps to understand the working of the gearbox. Shaft #1 holds for example gear 1, 3, 5 and 7. Shaft #2 hold the gears or sprockets for gear 2, 4, 6 and Reverse. The reverse works different from a manual gearbox because in the DCT they use a combination of several sprockets to back up the car but that's not the point of discussion.
Initially after the car is bleed, it runs perfectly for a few weeks and then slowly gear selection becomes a problem again, especially in reverse, 1st and 2nd. I have noticed if you press the
